About Emily

Emily RhodesHello there – thanks for wanting to find out about me.

I love books. I write about them here, and also for the Financial Times WeekendThe Spectator, the Guardian, the TLS, Country Life and other publications. I am also very slowly writing a novel … Before the heady days of freelance life, I was a bookseller, and before that I worked in publishing.

I also love walking, and came up with the idea of Emily’s walking book club – a unique way to combine two of my favourite things. We meet monthly to walk on Hampstead Heath; I also run Emily’s walking book club at festivals, writer retreats, and at other private events, like hen dos and birthday parties – so please ask if you think it might be the thing for you.

You will notice that blog posts have become less frequent since I became a mother a few years’ ago. I now have two little rascals to look after – Vita and Ezra – so apologies if much of what I have written since 2014 comes from a peculiar headspace resulting from long-term sleep-deprivation and extreme coffee consumption.

If you’d like to get in touch – about sending me a book to review, about Emily’s walking book club, or anything else – then please fill in the form below.

Hi, I just started a blog called Readers R Right, which is about encouraging teenage girls to read, and I was wondering if you could follow me or like my first post. Don’t worry if you don’t want to, that’s fine.

By the way, I really like the idea of a walking book club. I really like walking as well and I find it can be very relaxing.
